The Five Stairsteps were an American family group from Chicago that formed in 1965. The group consisted of five siblings: Alohe Jean, Clarence Jr., James, Dennis, and Kenneth Burke. They were known for their soulful harmonies and were one of the first groups to integrate soul, R&B, and pop music.
The Five Stairsteps are best known for their hit songs "O-o-h Child" and "World of Fantasy." "O-o-h Child" was released in 1970 and became their biggest hit, reaching number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group's music has been influential in the development of soul and R&B music, and they are considered pioneers in the genre. The Five Stairsteps were inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in 2013.
