The Flaming Ember was an American soul and R&B group formed in Detroit, Michigan in the late 1960s. The group achieved their greatest success with their hit single "Mind, Body and Soul" which reached the top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1969. The song also reached the top 10 on the Billboard R&B chart. The Flaming Ember was known for their energetic live performances and their tight, soulful sound that drew inspiration from Motown and other popular soul music of the era.
Despite their initial success, The Flaming Ember struggled to maintain their commercial momentum and disbanded in the early 1970s. However, their music continues to be celebrated by fans of classic soul and R&B, and "Mind, Body and Soul" remains a popular song on oldies radio stations and in compilation albums of 1960s soul music.
