The Friends of Distinction were an American vocal group formed in 1968 in Los Angeles, California. The group was comprised of Harry Elston, Floyd Butler, Jessica Cleaves, and Barbara Jean Love. They are known for their unique blend of soul, R&B, and pop music, and are considered one of the pioneering groups of the 1970s R&B sound.


The Friends of Distinction gained popularity with hits such as "Grazing in the Grass," "Love or Let Me Be Lonely," and "Going in Circles." They released several albums throughout the late 1960s and 1970s, and continued to perform and record music into the 1980s. The group's harmonious vocals and catchy melodies have solidified their place in music history as one of the prominent soul groups of their time.
