The Gap Band was an American R&B and funk band formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1970s. The band consisted of three brothers: Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson. They achieved mainstream success in the late 1970s and 1980s with their signature funk sound and energetic live performances. The Gap Band is best known for hits such as "You Dropped a Bomb on Me," "Outstanding," and "Burn Rubber on Me (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)."


Throughout their career, The Gap Band released numerous albums and singles, earning several gold and platinum certifications. They were highly influential in the funk and R&B music scenes, and their music continues to be celebrated and sampled by contemporary artists. The Gap Band disbanded in the late 1990s, but their music remains popular and their legacy as pioneers of funk music endures.
