The Hondells were a fictional band created by record producer Gary Usher to capitalize on the popularity of surf rock music in the 1960s. The group consisted of session musicians who recorded songs written by Usher and other songwriters. "Little Honda" was one of their most successful singles, but the band never achieved the same level of success as some of their contemporaries. Despite their short-lived career, The Hondells left a mark on the music scene with their catchy surf rock sound.
