The Honey Cone was an American R&B and soul girl group formed in 1968 in Los Angeles, California. The group consisted of three members: Carolyn Willis, Shelly Clark, and Edna Wright. They were signed to Hot Wax Records, a label owned by the successful songwriting and producing team Holland-Dozier-Holland.
The Honey Cone is best known for their hit songs in the 1970s, including "Want Ads" and "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show." "Want Ads" became their most successful single, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1971. The group's music was characterized by their powerful vocals, catchy melodies, and socially conscious lyrics. The Honey Cone disbanded in the mid-1970s after releasing several albums and singles.
