"Want Ads" by The Honey Cone was released as a single in 1971. The song was written by general manager of Hot Wax Records, Edna Wright, along with producer Greg Perry and songwriter Perry Botkin Jr. "Want Ads" became a commercial success, reaching the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and staying there for a week. The song also topped the R&B singles chart and was later certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).


Artist Bio:
The Honey Cone was an American R&B girl group formed in 1969. The group consisted of lead singer Edna Wright, Carolyn Willis, and Shelly Clark. They were signed to the Hot Wax Records label, which was founded by songwriting and production duo Holland-Dozier-Holland after they left Motown Records. The Honey Cone released several successful singles in the early 1970s, including "Want Ads," "Stick-Up," and "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show." They were known for their soulful vocals and catchy pop melodies. The group disbanded in 1973, but their music continues to be celebrated for its contribution to the soul and R&B genres.
