Artist Bio:
The Impressions are an American music group formed in Chicago in 1958. The group originally consisted of lead singer Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Gooden, Fred Cash, and brothers Richard and Arthur Brooks. They were one of the most influential soul vocal groups of the 1960s and 1970s, known for their smooth harmonies and socially conscious lyrics.

The Impressions released a string of hits in the 1960s, including "Gypsy Woman," "It's All Right," and "People Get Ready." Curtis Mayfield, who was the primary songwriter for the group, became a prominent figure in the civil rights movement with his socially conscious lyrics. The Impressions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 for their contributions to the genre.
