Artist Bio:
The Impressions are an American music group formed in 1958, known for their significant contributions to the soul and R&B genres. The group was originally formed as The Roosters by lead singer Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield, who later joined as a member. Curtis Mayfield's distinctive falsetto voice and socially conscious lyrics helped define the group's sound. Over the years, The Impressions had several lineup changes but remained active until the early 1970s. Some of their most popular songs include "People Get Ready," "It's All Right," and "Keep on Pushing."

After Curtis Mayfield left the group in 1970 to pursue a successful solo career, The Impressions continued to release music with new members. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003. The group's influence on soul music can still be felt today, with their songs being covered by various artists and sampled in hip-hop and R&B tracks.
