The Impressions were an American music group formed in Chicago in 1958. The original members were Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Gooden, Fred Cash, and Arthur Brooks. They are best known for their smooth vocal harmonies and socially conscious lyrics, which were characteristic of their soul and R&B music.

The Impressions had a string of hits in the 1960s, including songs like "People Get Ready," "Keep On Pushing," and "It's All Right." Their music had a significant impact on the development of soul music and they were influential in the Civil Rights Movement. The Impressions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and their music continues to be celebrated for its timeless quality and message of hope and empowerment.
