Artist Bio:
The Impressions are an American music group that was formed in Chicago in 1958. The group originally consisted of members Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Gooden, Fred Cash, and Arthur Brooks. They were known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound, which helped to define the Chicago soul music scene of the 1960s.

The Impressions achieved commercial success with hits such as "People Get Ready," "Keep on Pushing," and "Gypsy Woman." Their music often focused on themes of love, peace, and social justice, reflecting the civil rights movement of the time. Curtis Mayfield, the group's lead singer and primary songwriter, went on to have a successful solo career after leaving The Impressions in the late 1960s. The Impressions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 in recognition of their influence on soul and R&B music.
