Artist Bio:
The Impressions are an American music group that was formed in Chicago in 1958. The group originally consisted of lead singer Jerry Butler, brothers Richard and Arthur Brooks, and Curtis Mayfield. They are known for their blend of gospel-influenced vocal harmonies and smooth soulful sound, which helped to define the Chicago soul music scene of the 1960s.
The Impressions are best known for hits such as "People Get Ready," "It's All Right," and "Move On Up." Their music often featured socially conscious lyrics that reflected the civil rights movement of the era. The group's influence on soul music is significant, as they were one of the first to incorporate social and political themes into their music. The Impressions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
