Artist Bio:
The Impressions were an American music group formed in Chicago in 1958. The original members were Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Gooden, Fred Cash, and Arthur Brooks. The group was known for their smooth soulful harmonies and socially conscious lyrics, blending gospel and doo-wop influences with R&B and soul to create a unique sound.

The Impressions are best known for their hit songs such as "People Get Ready," "Keep on Pushing," and "Amen." Their music often reflected the civil rights movement and African American culture of the time. Curtis Mayfield's songwriting and vocal contributions were particularly notable, and he later went on to have a successful solo career. The Impressions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 in recognition of their significant contributions to soul music.
