Artist Bio:
The Impressions are an American music group originally formed in 1958. They are best known for their soulful and gospel-infused vocal harmonies. The original lineup included members Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Gooden, Fred Cash, and Arthur Brooks. Their music often addressed social and political issues of the time, with hits like "People Get Ready" and "Keep on Pushing" becoming anthems for the civil rights movement.

After Jerry Butler left the group in 1960, Curtis Mayfield took over as the primary songwriter and lead vocalist. The Impressions continued to release hits throughout the 1960s and 1970s, influencing the development of soul music with their smooth vocal style and socially conscious lyrics. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, recognizing their lasting impact on the music industry.
