The Intruders were an American soul music group formed in Philadelphia in 1960. The original members included Sam "Little Sonny" Brown, Eugene "Bird" Daughtry, Phillip "Phil" Terry, and Robert "Big Sonny" Edwards. The group's lineup changed over the years but Edwards remained a consistent member.
The Intruders are best known for their hits in the 1960s and 1970s, including "Cowboys to Girls" and "I'll Always Love My Mama." They were one of the first groups to popularize the "Philadelphia Sound," a genre of soul music characterized by lush orchestration and a smooth, polished production style. The Intruders' music has had a lasting influence on the R&B and soul music genres.
