The Intruders were an American soul music group formed in Philadelphia in 1960. The original members were Sam "Little Sonny" Brown, Eugene "Bird" Daughtry, Phil Terry, and Robert "Big Sonny" Edwards. They are best known for their hits in the 1960s and 1970s, such as "Cowboys to Girls" and "I'll Always Love My Mama." The Intruders were one of the first groups to popularize the Philadelphia soul sound, characterized by smooth harmonies and lush orchestration. They were signed to Gamble Records and later to Philadelphia International Records, where they worked with producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.


The Intruders' music often focused on themes of love, heartbreak, and social issues, resonating with audiences during the civil rights era. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004, recognizing their contribution to the soul music genre. The Intruders' music continues to be celebrated for its soulful vocals and timeless appeal, cementing their legacy as influential figures in the history of soul music.
