The J. Geils Band was an American rock band formed in 1967 in Worcester, Massachusetts. The band's original members were guitarist John "J." Geils, vocalist Peter Wolf, harmonica player Richard "Magic Dick" Salwitz, drummer Stephen Bladd, keyboardist Seth Justman, and bassist Danny Klein. The band was known for their high-energy live performances and their mix of rock, R&B, and blues influences.
The J. Geils Band achieved commercial success in the 1970s and early 1980s with hits such as "Centerfold," "Freeze-Frame," and "Love Stinks." They released a total of eleven studio albums before disbanding in 1985. The band reunited for occasional performances over the years, including a tour in 2012, before J. Geils passed away in 2017. The J. Geils Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
