The Jacksons are an American family music group hailing from Gary, Indiana. The group was originally formed in 1964 under the name "The Jackson Brothers," before eventually changing their name to "The Jackson 5" in 1965. The original members of the group were Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and a young Michael Jackson who quickly rose to fame as the lead singer. The Jackson 5 signed with Motown Records in 1968 and released a string of hits including "I Want You Back" and "ABC."
In 1975, the group left Motown and signed with Epic Records, changing their name to The Jacksons. As The Jacksons, they continued to release successful albums and singles throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The group's music blended R&B, pop, and soul influences, and they are credited with influencing the sound of modern pop music. The Jacksons were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, recognizing their impact on the music industry.
