The Jags were a British new wave band formed in 1978. The band consisted of Nick Watkinson (vocals), John Alder (guitar), Dan Woolfie (bass), and Alex Baird (drums). They are best known for their hit single "Back of My Hand (I've Got Your Number)," which reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart in 1979. The song was their most successful release and is often considered a classic of the new wave genre.

The Jags released two studio albums during their career: "Evening Standards" in 1979 and "No Tie Like a Present" in 1980. Despite their initial success, the band disbanded in 1981. The Jags' music is characterized by catchy melodies, jangly guitars, and polished production typical of the new wave sound of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
