The James Gang was an American rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1966. The band's original lineup consisted of guitarist Joe Walsh, bassist Tom Kriss, and drummer Jim Fox. They achieved their greatest success in the early 1970s with a lineup that included Joe Walsh, Dale Peters on bass, and Jim Fox on drums. The James Gang is best known for their hit songs "Funk #49" and "Walk Away", which are considered classic rock staples.
The band released a total of six studio albums between 1969 and 1976. Joe Walsh's guitar playing and songwriting were integral to the band's sound, which combined elements of rock, blues, and hard rock. The James Gang disbanded in 1976, and Joe Walsh went on to have a successful solo career and later joined the Eagles. Despite their relatively short-lived tenure, The James Gang left a lasting impact on the rock music scene of the 1970s.
