Artist Bio:
The Jazz Crusaders were an American jazz group formed in Houston, Texas in 1960. The original members included Joe Sample on piano, Wilton Felder on tenor saxophone, Stix Hooper on drums, and Wayne Henderson on trombone. The group later added a fifth member, Hubert Laws, on flute. They initially started out playing hard bop and soul jazz but later transitioned to a more funky and electric sound, incorporating elements of R&B and soul music into their music.
The Jazz Crusaders released over 20 albums throughout their career and were known for their energetic live performances and innovative blend of jazz and other genres. In the 1970s, they dropped the word "Jazz" from their name and became simply known as The Crusaders. The group continued to perform and record music until the early 2000s, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of jazz and fusion music.
