Artist Bio:
The Kane Gang was a British pop band formed in 1982 in North East England. The group consisted of Jonathan "JB" Brewis, Dave Brewis, and Martin Brammer. They were best known for their soulful pop sound and catchy tunes, with influences from Motown and Northern Soul. The band released their debut album, "Bad and Lowdown World of The Kane Gang," in 1985, which included the hit single "Closest Thing to Heaven."
Their biggest commercial success came with the release of their second album, "The Miracle of the Kane Gang," in 1987. The album spawned the hit single "Respect Yourself," a cover of the Staple Singers' classic, which reached the top 30 on the UK Singles Chart. Despite achieving some success in the late 1980s, The Kane Gang disbanded in the early 1990s. Their music continues to be remembered for its unique blend of pop and soul influences.
