The Kingsmen are an American garage rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1959. They are best known for their hit song "Louie Louie," released in 1963. The song became a major hit and has since become a rock and roll standard. The Kingsmen's version of "Louie Louie" reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remains one of the most iconic rock songs of the 1960s.
The band's original lineup included Jack Ely, Lynn Easton, Mike Mitchell, Bob Nordby, and Don Gallucci. "Louie Louie" was recorded in just one take and is known for its raw and energetic sound. The Kingsmen continued to perform and release music throughout the 1960s and beyond, solidifying their place in rock and roll history as one of the pioneering garage rock bands.
