The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1964 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. The band's original lineup also included Mick Avory on drums and Pete Quaife on bass. The Kinks were known for their raw, energetic sound and catchy melodies, as well as their distinct British Invasion style.
The Kinks gained popularity in the mid-1960s with hits like "You Really Got Me" and "All Day and All of the Night". They continued to release successful albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s, exploring different musical styles such as rock, pop, and music hall. The band's influence can be seen in the development of punk rock and Britpop. The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
