The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1964. The band consisted of brothers Ray and Dave Davies, along with Mick Avory and Pete Quaife. They are considered one of the most influential and important rock bands of the 1960s British Invasion era. The Kinks are known for their unique sound that blended elements of rock, pop, and British music hall traditions.


The band gained widespread popularity with hits such as "You Really Got Me," "All Day and All of the Night," and "Lola." Their music often featured clever and satirical lyrics that reflected on British society and culture. The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and were ranked 65th on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time."
