The Main Ingredient was an American soul and R&B group formed in 1964 in Harlem, New York City. The original members were lead singer Donald McPherson, Luther Simmons Jr., and Tony Silvester. The group achieved mainstream success in the 1970s with hits like "Everybody Plays the Fool" and "Just Don't Want to Be Lonely."
