Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
The Main Ingredient was an American soul and R&B group that was formed in 1964 in Harlem, New York City. The group originally consisted of lead singer Donald McPherson, Luther Simmons Jr., and Tony Silvester. They were best known for their hit singles "Everybody Plays the Fool" and "Just Don't Want to Be Lonely." The Main Ingredient achieved commercial success in the 1970s with their smooth harmonies and soulful sound.

The group went through several lineup changes over the years, with Cuba Gooding Sr. eventually taking over as the lead singer. Despite the changes, The Main Ingredient continued to release music and tour throughout the 1980s and 1990s. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2000. Donald McPherson passed away in 1971, and Luther Simmons Jr. passed away in 2019, but their music continues to be celebrated by fans of classic soul and R&B.
