The Mamas & The Papas were an American folk rock vocal group formed in 1965. The group consisted of John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips. They were known for their tight harmonies and blending elements of folk, pop, and rock music in their sound. The Mamas & The Papas achieved mainstream success with hits like "California Dreamin'", "Monday, Monday", and "Go Where You Wanna Go".
The group released five studio albums between 1966 and 1971, with their debut album "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears" being one of the most popular. Despite their success, internal conflicts and personal issues led to the group disbanding in 1968. The Mamas & The Papas were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, recognizing their influence on the folk rock music scene of the 1960s.
