The Mamas & The Papas were an American folk rock vocal group formed in Los Angeles in 1965. The band consisted of members John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips. They are best known for their hits such as "California Dreamin'," "Monday, Monday," and "Creeque Alley." The group's sound was characterized by their tight harmonies and a mix of pop, folk, and psychedelic rock influences.


The Mamas & The Papas were highly successful during the mid-1960s, earning several Grammy Award nominations and selling millions of records worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
