The Mamas & The Papas were an American folk rock vocal group formed in 1965. The band consisted of members John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips. They were known for their close harmonies and blending of male and female voices in their music. The band released a series of hit singles in the mid-1960s, including "California Dreamin'," "Monday, Monday," and "Dream a Little Dream of Me."


The Mamas & The Papas were highly influential in the counterculture movement of the 1960s and are considered one of the most successful and iconic groups of that era. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
