The Manhattans achieved mainstream success in the 1970s with hits like "Kiss and Say Goodbye" and "Shining Star." They continued to release music throughout the 1980s and 1990s, earning a Grammy Award for their song "Shining Star" in 1980. The group underwent several lineup changes over the years but remained active in the music industry, performing live and releasing new music. The Manhattans are considered one of the iconic R&B groups of their era.
