The original members were George "Smitty" Smith, Edward "Sonny" Bivins, Winfred "Blue" Lovett, Kenny "Wally" Kelley, and Richard Taylor. The group is known for their smooth harmonies and romantic ballads, which helped them achieve mainstream success in the 1970s and 1980s.
Their biggest hits include "Kiss and Say Goodbye," "Shining Star," and "There's No Me Without You." The Manhattans have received multiple Grammy nominations and have been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
