Artist Bio:
The Marcels were an American doo-wop group formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1959. The original members were Richard Knauss, Fred Johnson, Gene Bricker, Ron Mundy, and Cornelius Harp. They were known for their harmonized vocals and energetic performances, combining elements of rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and pop music.
The Marcels scored their biggest hit in 1961 with their cover of the song "Blue Moon," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song became their signature tune and is still considered a classic in the doo-wop genre. The group continued to record and perform throughout the 1960s and beyond, although with various lineup changes. Despite their success with "Blue Moon," The Marcels never achieved another hit of similar magnitude but remained popular in the doo-wop circuit.
