The band's name comes from a piano tuner whose name was found on a key ring in their rehearsal space. The original members of the band included Doug Gray, Toy Caldwell, Tommy Caldwell, George McCorkle, Jerry Eubanks, and Paul Riddle.
The Marshall Tucker Band is known for their blend of rock, country, and jazz influences, as well as their distinctive sound featuring the use of flute and saxophone in their music. They achieved commercial success in the 1970s with hits like "Can't You See" and "Heard It in a Love Song." The band continues to tour and perform, led by original member Doug Gray, and has released over 20 studio albums throughout their career.
