Artist Bio:
The Marvelettes were an American girl group that achieved popularity in the early 1960s. They were formed in Inkster, Michigan, and signed to Motown's Tamla label. The group was composed of high school friends Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart, and Georgia Dobbins. They gained fame with their first single, "Please Mr. Postman," which became a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1961.


The Marvelettes continued to release a string of successful singles throughout the 1960s, including hits like "Don't Mess with Bill" and "The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game." They were known for their harmonious vocals and catchy melodies. The Marvelettes were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004 and have left a lasting impact on the music industry with their contributions to the Motown sound.
