Artist Bio:
The Marvelettes were an American girl group formed in Inkster, Michigan, in 1960. They were the first major successful act of Motown Records after the Miracles and had a major impact on the label's early success. The original lineup consisted of Gladys Horton, Georgeanna Tillman, Wanda Young, Katherine Anderson, and Juanita Cowart.

Their most famous hit is "Please Mr. Postman," which became a number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961. The song is considered a Motown classic and was later covered by The Beatles. The Marvelettes continued to release hits throughout the 1960s, including "Don't Mess with Bill" and "Too Many Fish in the Sea." They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004. Despite various lineup changes over the years, the Marvelettes remain an iconic group in the history of Motown and girl groups in general.
