The Marvelettes were an American girl group formed in Inkster, Michigan, in 1960. The group consisted of Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart, and Wanda Young. They were signed to Motown's Tamla label and achieved great success with hits like "Please Mr. Postman" and "Don't Mess with Bill." The Marvelettes were known for their harmonious vocals and were one of the first successful female groups in the Motown roster. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004.
