Artist Bio:
The Marvelettes were an American girl group formed in 1960 in Inkster, Michigan. They were signed to Motown's Tamla label and achieved great success in the early 1960s. The group is best known for their hit song "Please Mr. Postman," which became Motown's first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Marvelettes were one of Motown's first successful acts and helped pave the way for future girl groups on the label.

The original lineup of The Marvelettes consisted of Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart, and Georgia Dobbins. Over the years, the group underwent several lineup changes, but they continued to release music and perform until the late 1960s. The Marvelettes were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2013 in recognition of their contributions to the music industry.
