Artist Bio:
The Marvelettes were an American girl group formed in Inkster, Michigan, in 1960. They were signed to Motown's Tamla label, and their most successful period was during the 1960s. The group's original lineup consisted of Gladys Horton, Georgia Dobbins, Juanita Cowart, Georgeanna Tillman, and Katherine Anderson. Their debut single, "Please Mr. Postman," released in 1961, became a major hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.


The Marvelettes were known for their harmonious vocals and catchy melodies, and they were one of the first successful acts to come out of Motown Records. They continued to release chart-topping singles throughout the 1960s, including "Don't Mess with Bill" and "The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game." The Marvelettes were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2005, recognizing their contribution to the music industry.
