The McCoys were an American rock band formed in Union City, Indiana in the early 1960s. The group was best known for their hit single "Hang on Sloopy," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1965. The McCoys' lineup consisted of members Rick Derringer, Randy Zehringer, Randy Jo Hobbs, and Ronnie Brandon.
The band was initially known as Rick and the Raiders before changing their name to The McCoys. In addition to "Hang on Sloopy," The McCoys had other charting singles such as "Fever" and "Come On Let's Go." The McCoys disbanded in the late 1960s, with members pursuing solo careers or joining other musical projects. Despite their relatively short time together as a band, The McCoys left a lasting impact on the rock music scene of the 1960s.
