The McCoys were an American rock band formed in Union City, Indiana in 1962. The band's most famous lineup consisted of Rick Derringer on lead vocals and guitar, Randy Hobbs on bass, Randy Zehringer on drums, and Ronnie Brandon on keyboards. They are best known for their hit single "Hang On Sloopy," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1965. The song has since become a classic rock anthem and is considered one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time.


The McCoys continued to release music throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, with other notable hits including "Fever" and "Come On Let's Go." They eventually disbanded in 1970, with members pursuing solo careers or joining other bands. The McCoys left a lasting impact on the rock music scene of the 1960s, with their energetic performances and catchy tunes earning them a dedicated fan base.
