Formed in 1955 in Detroit, Michigan, the group originally consisted of members Smokey Robinson, Ronald White, Pete Moore, Bobby Rogers, and Claudette Robinson. They were one of the first acts signed to Berry Gordy's Motown Records and became known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound.
The Miracles are best known for their hit songs such as "Shop Around," "You've Really Got a Hold on Me," and "The Tracks of My Tears." They were also the first Motown act to score a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "The Tears of a Clown" in 1970.
