Artist Bio:
The Monkees were an American rock and pop band formed in Los Angeles in 1966. The group consisted of members Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. They were brought together for a television series of the same name, which aired from 1966 to 1968. The show followed the adventures of the band as they tried to make it in the music industry and featured their music prominently in each episode.
Despite early criticism for not playing their own instruments on their recordings, The Monkees achieved commercial success with hits like "Last Train to Clarksville," "I'm a Believer," and "Daydream Believer." They won two Grammy Awards and became known for their catchy tunes and comedic antics. The Monkees disbanded in 1971 but reunited several times for tours and new albums over the years. Their music continues to be popular with fans of 1960s pop and rock music.
