The Monkees were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1966. The group was created for a television show of the same name, which aired from 1966 to 1968. The band members included Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. Despite initially being assembled for the TV series, The Monkees went on to achieve commercial success as a musical act.
The Monkees released a number of hit songs, including "Last Train to Clarksville," "I'm a Believer," and "Daydream Believer." They also won two Grammy Awards and sold millions of records worldwide. The group disbanded in 1971 but reunited for various tours and albums over the years. The Monkees' music continues to be popular with fans of 1960s rock and pop music.
