The band's original lineup included lead vocalist and guitarist Justin Hayward, bassist and vocalist John Lodge, keyboardist Mike Pinder, flautist and vocalist Ray Thomas, and drummer Graeme Edge. The Moody Blues are known for their fusion of rock with classical music, creating a unique and distinctive sound that became a hallmark of their music.

The band achieved commercial success with their concept albums, most notably "Days of Future Passed" released in 1967. The album featured the iconic song "Nights in White Satin," which became one of their biggest hits.
