The Motels are an American new wave band formed in 1971 in Berkeley, California. The band was originally fronted by lead singer Martha Davis, who remains the only consistent member throughout the band's various line-up changes. The Motels released six studio albums between 1979 and 1985, with their self-titled debut album being the most successful, reaching number 45 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band's music is characterized by a blend of new wave, pop, and rock elements, with Davis' distinctive vocals being a key feature of their sound.
