They are best known for their hit single "Airport," which reached number 4 on the UK Singles Chart in 1978. The Motors released three studio albums during their career: "1" (1977), "Approved by the Motors" (1978), and "Tenement Steps" (1980). Despite their success with "Airport," the band struggled to achieve consistent commercial success and disbanded in 1981.
