The O'Jays are an American R&B group that was formed in Canton, Ohio in 1958. The group originally consisted of Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey, and Bill Isles. They are best known for their soulful vocal harmonies and socially conscious lyrics. The O'Jays achieved mainstream success in the 1970s with hits such as "Love Train," "Back Stabbers," and "For the Love of Money."
The O'Jays were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Throughout their career, they have received numerous accolades including being honored with the BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. The group has continued to perform and record music, showcasing their enduring influence on the R&B genre.
