The Olympics were an American R&B group formed in Los Angeles in 1957. The original members were Walter Ward, Eddie Lewis, Charles Fizer, and Walter Hammond. The group is best known for their hit song "Western Movies," which reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1958. The Olympics were known for their energetic live performances and catchy doo-wop style harmonies.
Throughout their career, The Olympics released several other singles including "Hully Gully," "Big Boy Pete," and "Dance by the Light of the Moon." They were also known for their comedic and playful lyrics in their songs. The group continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, although they never quite reached the same level of success as they did with their early hits.
