Artist Bio:
The Persuaders were an American soul vocal group formed in New York City in the early 1970s. The group consisted of members Douglas "Smokey" Scott, Herbert "Tubo" Rhoad, Richard Thompson, Robert Poindexter, and later addition, Charles Stodghill. They were signed to the label Win Or Lose Records, and their music was characterized by smooth harmonies and a blend of soul and R&B influences.
Their most famous hit was the song "Thin Line Between Love and Hate," which reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart and number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1971. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group. The Persuaders continued to release music throughout the 1970s, but were unable to replicate the success of their initial hit. Despite this, they remain well-regarded in the soul music genre for their distinctive sound and memorable hits.
